Mission and Vision

Our Mission Statement is

www.com

which stands for:
worship, word and wholeness in the community

Worship

On Sunday mornings our service begins at 10.45 and includes a mix of traditional hymns and more contemporary praise songs, prayers, readings. There is often an opportunity for members of the congregation to share their week’s news, some spiritual insight or reflection or ask for prayers. The children go out for their own classes while the adults stay in for a time of learning together. This is not always a traditional sermon.

We enjoy coffee and time for a chat after the service finishes, usually around 12.00 -  perhaps a few minutes later on the first and third Sundays in the month which includes a celebration of Holy Communion -  the sharing of the bread and wine of the ‘Last Supper.’

On the first Sunday of the month we have an evening service using reflection, music, video clips, prayer activities and more.

Word

Learning together about the Christian faith is rooted in our shared love and respect for the Christian scriptures -  the Holy Bible. Roomfield is a church that has a high view of the Bible as God’s word for us today -  but we are realistic that a book that was written in the prheasing and imagery of between 2 and 5 thousand years ago needs some careful study and interpretation. Most of our services will include a talk that will explore a bible passage interpreting it’s relevance to daily living. Sometimes we use drama, video, slides or discussion as an aid to our learning.

During the week we meet in smaller  (cell) groups where discussion can take place.

We believe that God listens to our prayers and that he speaks to us -  often through the bible or n the talks and discussions but in other ways as well. It is a central part of the way that we ‘do’ church at Roomfield to make prayer and bible reading together relevant, helpful and accessible to all.

Wholeness

Our mission is focused on achieving and enabling wholeness in every part of our lives. Most people would agree that Jesus’ teachings were good and that the world would be improved if more people were to follow them. We expect that by living out his teachings it should make us better people – but it isn’t easy.

God has given us the choice to follow Him and he offers us the power of His Holy Spirit to enable us to do that. At Roomfield, we dare to believe that Jesus can change our lives, can turn us around and through us, He can change a whole community for the better.

Do you share in our vision? We would love to hear from you and to welcome you in joining us on our faith journey at Roomfield Baptist Church
